Mezzo Lovero is an old nautical term which, in Franco-Levantine, means that the sail of the boat is half unfurled while sailing. Captains chose that arrangement of the sail taking into account the cargo and the weather conditions. Andreas Kantsos , the owner, found this nautical term in his grandfather’s files.

Captain Andreas Leonardos Kantsos and his brother Captain Ioannis Leonardos Kantsos were sea captains. What else could they be since Kantsos family owned many sailing boats which, around 1750, carried cargo, goods, and materials from Greece to Italy.

Our hotel visitors can see these sailing boats as a theme of hanging paintings or miniatures in Mezzo Lovero’ suites and rooms.
